Youssou Ndour & Alicia Keys In Honor!

Youssou Ndour and Alicia Keys are a credit to Keep A Child Alive, the foundation of the American singer.

The Black Ball 2009, hosted by Alicia Keys and Keep A Child Alive took place on Thursday, October 15. The details of this exceptional evening were largely revealed Friday.

Queen Latifah hosted the evening. Former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, has been honored, and Richard Branson, the famous British businessman and Youssou Ndour, the Senegalese singer to fight against AIDS and for children. Alicia Keys received guests and was the musical director of the evening

Like every year, the singer asked about her artists from different backgrounds. We already know that in October Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, and Youssou N'Dour, the Senegalese musician, were the festival. Other names were added. Spike Lee, Halle Berry to name but a few have participated in the evening.

Profits from the evening harvested including through auctions, will be devoted to the fight against AIDS in Africa and India.

During the evening, composer lartiste ESTELLE English-Senegalese Youssou Ndour called legend after his performance with Alicia Keys.

Daddy Lumba celebrates 45th Bday

daddy lumba Charles Kojo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba, last Tuesday celebrated his 45th birthday at his residence at Tantra Hill in Accra.

The celebration attracted a number of showbiz personalities including models from Exopa Modeling Agency, as well as friends of Daddy Lumba. As part of activities to celebrate his birthday, the host of Adom FM’s Ofie Kwanso programme, Abeiku Santana, dedicated one and half hours of the programme to playing Lumba’s songs in his honour.

Speaking on Adom FM, Daddy Lumba, who credited his success to hard work, thanked Ghanaians for supporting him throughout his 25 years in active music. He told Abeiku Santana that he was happy to be alive to continue with his career adding, “It is the work of God which has made it possible for me to reach this far”.

He expressed gratitude to all his colleagues who in various ways contributed toward the success of all his albums. Daddy Lumba expressed appreciation to his former girlfriend Theresa, who was the brain behind his travelling to Europe to pursue his musical career.

Lumba told Abeiku Santana that although he composed a song for Nana Addo, his doors are open for everybody, including the president. A number of Lumba’s fans called in to the programme to wish him well, whilst others also encouraged him to continue with the good work he was doing.

Throughout his career, Daddy Lumba has been consistent, and music fans always see originality in all his song.

All of Lumba’s 20 albums became instant hits, catapulting him straight to superstar status; making him a household name and a national treasure.

Oprah Winfreys show tagged ''most famous people in the world'' had actress Genevieve Nnaji being aired as africas most famous actress.

According to information from Oprah.com, Nollywood’s Genevieve Nnaji was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the episode ‘Meet the Most Famous People in the World’.

Nnaji who was referred to as the “Julia Roberts of Africa” on the show was said to be chosen due to her wide appeal across the African continent and all over the world. A montage of photos and a video clip from the movie Bursting Out featuring Genevieve were shown as her various career highlights were mentioned.
