AY's Crib Seanson One Premiering October 2012 - Popular award winning comedian, AY, is taking his acting prowess to a whole new level by acting in and producing a comedy sitcom aptly titled AY's crib. According to the comedian, the sitcom came as a response to the yearnings of countless fans of popular AY skits such as The Kumute, Room 509, Petrol, The sitcom which stars Ay playing as himself, Alexx Ekubor as JJ, Bucci franklin as KC, Ushbebe as Ush and Venita Akpofure as Mimi, tells the story of a younger version of Ay who lives in a house with 2 of his university friends and a distant cousin from Warri who serves as his gateman while dating mimi, his rich, spoilt girlfriend.
The sitcom, which is created by AY and co-directed by Ay and Patrick Ovoke Odjegba is a social satire of contemporary issues and events webbed in wholesome comedy which is designed to make the viewers laugh as they learn valuable social lessons. Throbbing the same comedic ingenuity that has come to be associated with Ay, Ay's Crib also stars cameo appearances by the creme of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
With production of the hilarious sitcom almost completed, the program is set to hit major terrestrial and cable stations across Africa and the rest of the world within the 3rd quarter of the year.
COMEDY in Uganda has grown by leaps and bounds over the past five years. But this coming Thursday promises the industry a giant leap when LOL, a groundbreaking comedy show, debuts on Urban TV.
An intoxicating cocktail of news parodies and satire, LOL plans to venture into uncharted territory by taking a newsdriven approach to comedy. “LOL will tackle the important and serious issues that affect Ugandans , but with its tongue wedged firmly in its cheek all the time,” reveals Joseph Opio, the show’s host.
“To quote one of our numerous slogans,”whenever news breaks, LOL will be on site, sirens blazing and first aid kit in hand, to fix it. Like a plastic surgeon, LOL plans to alter the very face of Ugandan comedy by the time it’s through,” says Opio.
Created by Cyrogen Communications Limited, LOL will pull no punches, focusing its scope on everyone, from public officials through local celebrities to the notorious socialites.
“No one is safe. LOL will last 30 minutes, with punch-lines raining on viewers relentlessly, we intend for them to actually overdose on the stuff.” LOL will air Thursdays at 9:00pm, with repeats every Sunday at 10:00am.
Famous Nigerian comedian A.Y is presently working on his upcoming show A.Y Live which is scheduled to hold on Easter Sunday, the 8th of April and for this he worked on a video spoof of a chart topping track Kontrol sang by W4.
The video features another famous act Tiwa Savage and is titled Petrol based on a number of parody for the W4 song that came to light during the fuel crises that rocked the country early January 2012.
