Ghanaian television broadcasters are sweating over the rights for the 2012 Nations Cup with no deal in place a month away from the start of the big event.
Right holders SportFive are demanding about €1.4-million for the competition, an amount no single broadcaster in Ghana is willing to pay.
KickOffGhana.com understands the country's major broadcasters with the state owned Ghana television at the fore front are negotiating for a reasonable fee before they figure out a way football fans here can follow the event.
The country's government came to the broadcaster’s aid two years ago and it might take a similar deal to ensure the event is available on free to air television.
The Nations Cup has been a regular fixture on free to air television since 1990 and with the Black Stars one of the biggest brands in Ghana; it will be something of a disaster if it is not available to the wider population.
