NOLLYWOOD RUMORS: Jim Iyke says “I am looking for a wife.” Debunks rumor of A Deadly STD Infection
It was a gathering of who is who in African and Caribbean entertainment scenes penultimate Friday as Kethurah Hamilton-the delectable Jamaica born actress girlfriend of top Nollywood star-Jim Iyke threw him a surprise party at the swanky rooftop lounge at Hotel Indigo in Manhattan.
Keturah had earlier contacted Jim’s close friends and intimated them of her plans, and pleaded that the information be kept away from Jim- a promise that was kept by all invited. Jim was pleasantly surprised and showed due appreciation to his worthy consort for her dedication and love.
Jim Iyke is in New York to promote his reality show called “Jewel for Jim.” The reality show, which is a worldwide search for a ‘rare gem’ or as Jim stated “a cultural and social ambassador, a lady of substance, a role model who personifies a perfect blend of the traditional and modern mind, a great talent, a princess fit to be soul mate to Africa’s most eligible bachelor” is open to ladies who are 21, must be single, and must have special skills set and be willing to agree to the terms and conditions of the show.”
Asked about her feelings toward the search for a wife, when she (Keturah) is already playing a major role in his life, Keturah smiled and coyly replied “I invite all-especially the ladies to watch the show.”
Jim Iyke, who also won the Best Actor Award at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards which took place at Borough of Manhattan Community College Performing Center, in Tribeca penultimate Saturday, used the opportunity to express his frustration over the unfounded and ill-motivated rumor that has been making the rounds on the Internet to the effect that he was infected by an HIV virus allegedly contracted from a supposed Sierra Leonean lady he had allegedly impregnated who, in the course of pre-natal check-ups, was said to have discovered she had been infected by an HIV virus.
Jim Iyke, while making his acceptance speech at the award, took a Christian approach, and asked God Almighty to forgive his traducers and wondered why people should be so vicious, mean- spirited and so hateful to the point of concocting such an outrageous and dangerous story. According to a statement put out by Jim Iyke’s management and media representatives-Face Front Concepts, the rumor emanated from a Lagos based journalist whom the management alleges have “earned the reputation for blackmailing entertainers in exchange for not peddling lies in the media about them.” Jim was said to have called off the bluff of this alleged blackmailing journalist, and in anger, he resorted to putting out the damaging rumor. “Mr. Iyke has now filled a criminal petition in Lagos, Nigeria against this unscrupulous journalist and is in the process of starting a legal action in Ghana and Amsterdam against the offending web sites and companies” the statement had added, while assuring the media that “Mr. Iyke holds them in the highest esteem and will continue to enjoy a good relationship with them.”

Our investigations also supports Jim Iyke’s position. The rumor was an exercise borne out of hate and jealousy and as a journalist who has spent about twenty five years in the higher echelons of the media; I think it is utterly disgraceful and irresponsible for any journalist worth the pen or the computer keyboard he writes or types on, to make such a malicious and totally baseless story. This kind of ‘yellow journalism’ must be condemned by all and the journalist who started the rumor should be held accountable. From our investigations, the journalist did not do the most basic journalistic requirement- hearing from the other side before he rushed to publish the totally false rumor. Jim Iyke has a certifiably clean medical bill of health. Members of the public should ignore and discount this vicious rumor, and treat it for what it is: an enterprise motivated by hate and malice.
PREMIERS 2 DOLLARS MOVIE
For those who have followed Jim Iyke's journey into Nollywood, it is a known fact that the movie that shot him to limelight was called "One Dollar" a movie that detailed the descent into the world of drugs, crime and loss of direction by the son of a rich Nigerian businessman who had been sent to the United States to bring back the proverbial Golden fleece. The lead role played by Jim Iyke, made him an instant star within the Nollywood firmament, and Jim never looked back. Penultimate week, Jim was in New York, to launch a sequel to that movie-appropriately titled "2 Dollars. The high profile event which took place at the Magic Johnson theatre, was well attended. 2 Dollars is a great movie that is guaranteed to do well. It features among other A-List stars, the delectable and 'hipplicious' Mercy Johnson.
